Details emerge after ATV, semi collision in Kansas

KANSAS – Emergency personnel responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident involving an ATV and a semi-truck on Monday, Sept. 23. Two people were injured in the collision, which occurred near the ambulance bay in Kansas.

One juvenile is still recovering in the hospital. 

The Kansas Police Department reported that Blaine Shonk, 18, was speeding on an ATV through a gravel parking lot with a juvenile passenger. Shonk slid onto State Route 16 just as a semi-truck passed and subsequently crashed into the side of the truck.

Shonk and the juvenile passenger were taken to Carle Hospital with injuries.

Kansas Police say Shonk has been charged with driving under the influence and improperly operating an ATV.
