Poole trial slowly moves forward

Judge David W. Lewis ordered a fitness evaluation for Tyler Poole on Aug. 4. during what should have been a preliminary hearing into the charge alleging Poole killed CK Nay.

Several setbacks in obtaining an evaluation from a court-appointed doctor have caused the preliminary hearing to be delayed multiple times.

During the defendant’s most recent court appearance on Nov. 6, the public defender assigned to his case, Nathanael Harsy, filed the results of the evaluation he received that morning with the Edgar County court.

The fitness evaluation has not been reviewed by the defense, judge or the prosecution. A fitness hearing is 2:15 p.m. Nov. 13. to determine the defendant’s ability to stand trial.

Poole will remain in the custody of the Edgar County Jail with a $500,000 bond where he has been since his arrest on July 24.
