Chrisman Days Celebration returns

Chrisman will host their annual Chrisman Days celebration Sept. 6-8. The weekend is expected to be filled with events sun up to sun down and give residents and visitors a chance to explore the countless amenities in Chrisman.

 

Friday, Sept. 6

  • 7 a.m. Bake sale by American Legion Auxiliary in front of the American Legion Hall
  • 8 a.m. All-town yard sales begin and last throughout the day. Anyone interested in being featured on the yard sale map should reach out to text Lisa Russell at (303) 881-1904 before Aug. 31.
  • 8 a.m. Chrisman volunteer firemen will be selling raffle tickets until 7 p.m.
  • 9 a.m. Book sale begins in front of Chrisman Library
  • Noon Vendors open for business in the City Park. Anyone interested in being a vendor should contact Josh Lovett at (217) 251-8312. 
  • 4 p.m Cruise-In Car Show begins on the West and South side of the city square. Classic cars, hot rods, motorcycles, Jeeps and trucks will be featured. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 entries. There is no registration fee.
  • 4 p.m. Chrisman Area Community Club will be selling raffle tickets in the City Park until 7 p.m.
  • 4 p.m. Ham and Bean Dinner in the City Park until 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Chrisman volunteer firemen.
  • 4 p.m. Battle Creek band will be playing on the bandstand in the City Park until 8 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair.

Saturday, Sept. 7

  • 7 a.m. Bake sale by American Legion Auxiliary in front of the American Legion Hall
  • 7 a.m. Sausage and pancake breakfast at the American Legion Hall sponsored by the Chrisman Area Community Club until 10 a.m. Raffle ticket sales will also be available.
  • 8 a.m. All-town yard sales begin and last throughout the day.
  • 8 a.m. Volunteer firemen will be selling raffle tickets until 7 p.m.
  • 9 a.m. Vendors in the City Park open
  • 9 a.m. Book sale resumes in front of Chrisman Library
  • 10 a.m. Kiddy Tractor Pull, sponsored by Massey Ferguson, begins in the City Park
  • 11 a.m. Fish sandwiches will be served in the City Park by Chrisman volunteer firemen until 1 p.m.
  • 11 a.m. Chrisman Area Community Club will be selling raffle tickets in the City Park until 7 p.m.
  • 11 a.m. Music on the bandstand provided by Lala Karaoke until 5 p.m.
  • Noon Little Miss and Mr. Chrisman contest on the bandstand in the City Park. Chrisman residents, age five - eight, that wish to participate can contact Samantha Simpson at (217) 274-2651.
  • Noon Beer Tent opens north of the American Legion. Open until midnight.
  • 1 p.m. Cake Walk will be held in the City Park sponsored by the Band Boosters Club.
  • 1 p.m. Corn Hole Tournament in honor of Tim Hollingsworth in front of the American Legion begins. Sign-up is from Noon - 1 p.m.
  • 3 p.m. Parade begins. Line-up is in front of Pleasant Meadows Senior Living on W. Washington Ave. Registration is not required. For parade questions, contact Carole Yaw at (217) 269-2470.
  • 4 p.m. Truck and Tractor Pull at Centennial Park. $25 entry fee and 70/30 payback. For more information, contact Richard Haga at (217) 304-6015 or Dennis Tingley at (217) 251-4933.
  • 4 p.m. Jonah Fish Fry in the City Park sponsored by Chrisman volunteer firemen.
  • 5 p.m. Travis Henry Band will play on the bandstand until 9 p.m.
  • 6:30 p.m. Bingo at the American Legion
  • 7 p.m. Raffle drawing held at the American Legion for a S.A.L. and Aux Generator. All proceeds go to the restoration of the running track at Centennial Park.
  • 7 p.m. Ross Township Memorial dedication in honor of E. Elton Ingram on the bandstand.
  • 7 p.m. Chrisman volunteer firemen raffle drawing on the bandstand.
  • 7:15 p.m. Chrisman Area Community Club raffle drawing on the bandstand.

Sunday, Sept. 8

  • 10 a.m. Church service sponsored by Chrisman Ministerial Alliance in the City Park. Bring your own lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, service will be held at the Chrisman United Methodist Church.
  • 11:15 a.m. Box lunches available for pickup in the City Park. Lunch includes chicken and noodles, green beans, roll and dessert for $10. Call Carla’s Coop at (217) 497-9897 before Sept. 3 to order.
