Beloved specialty drink and snack joint ‘The Fizz’ announces closure

For the past four years, the Fizz Soda Shop and Eatery has been serving up drinks and treats at 404 S. Main Street in Paris. On Saturday, Aug. 17, the drive-thru-only shop used social media to announce its closure in a heartfelt post.

“Our family has made the very hard decision to quit operating The Fizz at the end of August,” a Facebook post read. “This decision does not come without many months of debate and mixed emotions.”

Eno and Trisha Vitale established The Fizz in 2020 and the blue building quickly became known and loved by residents near and far for its specialty drinks, coffee and daily salad selection. Nearly 200 Fizz fans shared their sentiments on the shop’s announcement, expressing their well wishes for the family and announcing what items they would miss the most.

“We do have plans for the building and have also listed it for sale,” the shop’s original Facebook post read. “It’s God’s decision on what happens with it next. We are just trusting him and his guidance.”

The Vitales say they elected to close the shop to prioritize “our family and our health at this time.”

“We had no idea how well The Fizz would be received but it has been a wild success and we are so proud of the concept and the brand,” Trisha Vitale told a Prairie Press reporter.

“We have put our entire souls and skillsets into bringing our customers some pretty amazing drinks and eats. Unfortunately, we brought upon some health issues and an abundance of stress in the process,” she explained. “Life is short. Our faith, family and health are our top priorities.”

The co-owner of the shop says the family will now focus more attention on the health of their family while moving on to the next adventure.

“We are currently offering both the business and the property up for sale,” Vitale said. “We also have an alternative business plan for the property. We are currently weighing all options and offers to decide which direction to take.”

The biggest thing Vitale wanted to express was her gratitude for the community over the past four years. “From the bottom of our hearts, we love you all and appreciate the opportunity to serve you,” she said.

The Fizz will continue to operate its regular business hours until Aug. 30, a full menu is available online at www.thefizzrocks.com, or on Facebook under “The Fizz Soda Shop & Eatery.”
